Cory Brazier was born and raised in South Bend Indiana by parents Margaret and local boxer Harold Brazier. He now resides on the West side of town with his wife Monica and daughter Divine Faith. Cory and his family are members of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of South Bend Indiana. Growing up Cory always loved the arts and drew a lot of pictures. Once he was introduced to music at the age of fifteen, he used it as a way to express himself artistically and glorify God at the same time. Cory describes himself as a heavy thinker who doesn't talk much. He uses gospel rap as a way to communicate and encourage others to pursue a life with Christ. Cory wrote, performed, and arranged all of the fifteen songs on his debut album "Target in Quarantine." The album is inspired by the book of Mathew chapter 6 and verse 6. This scripture tells us to enter into the closet and shut the door to pray. This suggests a place of solitude or seclusion, away from the world which supports the concept of Quarantine. Steps have to be taken to succeed in ones spiritual growth; the first step is prayer. Cory's pen name is Target. In the bible Jesus tells us that if you are to follow him you must take up your cross which means everyone that follows Jesus has a cross to bear. If he suffered, his followers will also suffer as the servant is not above the master. He goes on to tell us that if they hated me first then they will hate you. Jesus was a target for the sake of righteousness and his follower's will also be target's for his namesake. The first two singles from the album are Set for Life and The Good Design. Set for Life is about having an abundant life above circumstances. The Good design talks about how perfect Jesus is and striving to be like him with his help. Through this whole experience Cory wants to stay focused on God's purpose for his life. With the Lord's help and encouragement from his family and friends, he hopes that this project will open up a window of opportunities for the up building of the Lord's kingdom.
